The MINOX is a subminiature camera, which shoots on 8x11 film. It is not an easy format to work with, but Minox cameras are so small they can be taken anywhere, and film has a quality that I think digital cannot match.

I never call it a spy camera and I dislike the name, because Walter Zapp, the creator, never intended the camera to be used for espionage. He himself said:
The first buyer was a diplomat. “Sadly, I understood at once that this meant espionage!” Zapp said in an interview a couple of decades later. He was not exactly delighted about this.
Die erste Kamera wurde an einen Diplomaten verkauft. „Ich verstand leider sofort, was das im Klartext heißt: Spionage!“, erinnerte sich Zapp Jahrzehnte später in einem Interview.
